North Northants Unitary Candidate - Thrapston
I live in Thrapston and now work in a clinical role at Kettering General Hospital following a commercial career. I am married to a nurse and have three children who have grown up in Northamptonshire.
I am standing as a candidate because I am shocked by the incompetence of the Tory councillors who bankrupted the previous council and decimated services, while allowing £10 million to be stolen from local people. Previous action was undertaken based purely on ideology, without even basic business planning, at a cost to the most vulnerable people of Northamptonshire. We have seen a huge increase in demand at Thrapston Food Bank while our local MP refuses to take any responsibility.
I believe young people have had a particularly bad deal as a result of austerity and the Covid pandemic and need particular support not cuts in services. Housing is required but needs to be affordable, good quality and energy efficient and we need to protect our wonderful local environment. I oppose the Glebe Land development and would like to see a community purchase.
