The CLP & Council Labour Groups

Each local council associated with the area covered by the constituency has a Labour Group - those councillors have been selected by the members of the local party and subsequently elected to represent a ward (borough and district councils) or a division (county council). The Labour Group develops and implements the policies that our councillors will support. Each group will meet regularly to discuss future council business and how Labour councillors can best represent the interests of local people.

The CLP works closely with the Labour Groups for Corby Borough Council, East Northants Council and Northants County Council. Most monthly CLP meetings include a report from each of these groups to keep members in touch with the work of our council representatives and to provide the opportunity to give them some feedback.

The CLP and Labour Groups also work in partnership to plan and deliver Labour's election campaigns for local government. The means for doing this is a Local Campaign Forum, comprising representatives of both the CLP and the Labour Groups. We have set up, therefore, three Local Campaign Forums at county, borough and district levels. The first of these brings together members of CLPs from across the whole of Northamptonshire.
